Mother’s Day is around the corner! Have you started hinting at things you would like? I’ve already started sending my husband links to things I would like for Mother’s Day!
I know as moms we put ourselves last almost daily. Between working, taking care of the kids, taking care of the dog, doing the grocery shopping, and keeping a running checklist in our head every second of the day (this is just to name a few things) – we are bound to get a little burnt out! Mother’s Day is your day to put yourself first and ask for whatever you want. Might I add – no matter how ridiculous it might sound to others!
I usually don’t ask for anything for Mother’s Day, but I recently became a mom of three and new to having two kids at home (two at home and one in heaven) – and it’s hard work! I’m still breastfeeding my nine-month-old plus have an almost four-year-old, and life is very demanding. Mothers deserve to be treated like queens on Mother’s Day!
I thought I would share what I am asking for on Mother’s Day this year, as well as sprinkle in some other fantastic ideas that you are sure to love. If you are a husband reading this, take notes and start planning!

WHAT MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS I HAVE ASKED FOR
BruMate Coffee Tumbler
Do you run on fumes and coffee every day? Me too girl, me too. I am still on the “getting up at least three times a night train” with my breastfeeding baby, and never miss my cup of coffee in the morning (after a nutritious breakfast of course).
I have stuck with my old, not super functional coffee tumbler long enough – I want a new, expensive, leakproof tumbler! Also to note, the BruMate ones have handles. Yes, I am excited to possibly be upgrading to a tumbler with a handle. It’s the little things in life, isn’t it?
Specifically, I have requested the 22oz Toddy, but there are lots of different options. Their newest mug can even be somewhat customized which is super cute! The description claims to keep hot drinks hot for at least six hours and cold drinks cold for twenty-four hours . . . time will tell!
BruMate Era Straw Tumbler
All of sudden, it is cool to drink your water, but seriously – hydration is so important! Add that to being a breastfeeding mom and hydration is even more important for me right now.
I will confess – I am currently a Stanley girl for my water . . . and I’m not that impressed, unfortunately.
I have specifically requested the 30oz Era Straw Tumbler. This is actually leakproof, whereas if my Stanley falls over it does leak water out of the straw. If my wishes are granted and I get this, I am crossing my fingers that I love it way more than my Stanley!
BruMate also offers lots of other options for carrying your water, this is just one of many!
Cookware
Okay, we’ll get away from BruMate and move over to a company called Our Place. I will admit I was definitely influenced by an influencer and got the Always Pan as a gift for Christmas a couple of years ago – and I LOVE it. I seriously use that pan just about every single day. It’s fantastic.
So now I would love the Perfect Pot! The Perfect Pot is a 5.5-quart pot. The only pots I have to make soups or something similar are much bigger than that and impractical. This would be the perfect size to make my chili, soups, and other yummy dinners.
I will give you a fair warning, this cookware is expensive. But again, Mother’s Day is your day to ask for whatever you want. Plus, I can vouch that you will love any cookware you get from them having used the Always Pan myself over the past couple of years.
Massage
Who doesn’t love a massage?! I know some people don’t, but I definitely DO and wish I could get one more frequently.
A massage is a great way to unwind and relax. A dark room, calming music, peace and quiet – everything you usually don’t get when you have little babies at home. You know you would love to be able to decompress!
Aside from it being relaxing, massage is extremely beneficial. Massage promotes blood flow, a.k.a. increased circulation, which is very beneficial to our bodies. Blood is life and massage gets it flowing to all parts of your body better.
Reed Diffusers
A great non-toxic way to get scent into your home is with reed diffusers. You can buy “clean” candles, but I’ve had reed diffusers before and really enjoy them.
I specifically requested a Life in Lilac reed diffuser. The scent I asked for is “The Hamptons”. I’ve seen absolutely raving reviews for this new scent so I’m hoping I enjoy it as much as other ones I’ve liked!
Those are the things that I have personally requested this year, and I usually don’t ask for anything specific! Let’s move on to other awesome Mother’s Day gift ideas!

JUST FOR MOM
Time Alone
Yes, even though it is Mother’s Day I know a lot of moms want a day to themselves. Be very specific about what you want and make others figure out how to make that happen!
It shouldn’t be on you to set up babysitters or explain to your husband what he should do with the kids during the day while you’re gone.
I am part of a subreddit called Mommit, and the overwhelming response when asked what moms want for Mother’s Day is time alone! There are usually two scenarios that are wished for there:
- Getting a hotel room for yourself for the night
Do whatever you want on your own during the day. Check in to the hotel whenever you want. Order room service. Watch whatever you want. SLEEP IN. Then meet the husband and kids for a nice brunch the next day or go back home.
I think what would take this to the next level is if the house was also clean when you got back! I wouldn’t care who cleaned the house – my husband or spending money on a maid service – but coming back to a clean house would be the cherry on top.
- Get the house to yourself for the day
Some people want all that time to themselves but in their own space. This will require more effort on the spouse’s part, especially if your children are little, but that’s kind of the point! People putting in effort for you that day!
If your children are older then maybe even your spouse can be the one that gets a hotel for them and the kids. Oddly enough, the kids would probably think staying in the hotel was so cool – bonus if they stayed at one with a pool.
I know I don’t like sleeping alone in my house though, so if I had the whole day at home to myself and my husband brought the kids home at bedtime and did bedtime for everyone – swoon.
You can see how these two ideas could lead to lots of different scenarios and give you time to do whatever YOU want instead of getting a gift you might not like or use. Remember though, you make the specific request and then let someone else figure out how to make that happen.
Spa Day
Go have yourself a full-on spa day! Facial, massage, reflexology – the works. The spa that I go to has a couple of options where you can pay a little extra to get 30 minutes at the end of your massage to sleep! I haven’t tried it yet but think it sounds like a fantastic idea.
Hair + Nails
Go get your hair and nails done! I’m more of a pedicure girl myself, or have both your hands and feet done! If you’ve been neglecting getting a haircut this is the perfect reason to finally go!
Shop for Your Wardrobe
You know how I mentioned we put ourselves last a lot? That even goes with clothing! Do you know how often I think something is cute but then I look at something also cute for my son or daughter and get the something cute for my son or daughter instead? I always think “I’ll get it next time”. Your Mother’s Day gift to yourself could be going out and buying a few things for yourself instead!
A few new pieces in your wardrobe is always fun. Plus, if you’re a stay-at-home mom to little ones, you likely have spit up, or food, or some foreign substance on a lot of your clothes. Get yourself something new, cute, and most likely comfy!
There are so many other things I could list here, but I will stop. Really, your requests are personal to you and the sky is the limit.
MOM + OTHERS
Maybe you are the type of person that doesn’t want to spend the day to themselves. Or you want to go do something by yourself for a couple of hours and then spend time with your family. Anything you choose is perfect! Here are some ideas that involve spending time with people you love.
Mom Brunch
Here’s my idea of a perfect mom brunch:
- Brunch because you get to sleep in a little bit
- This would involve dad waking up with the kids and being in charge of everything so you can SLEEP
- Eat a lovely brunch with a couple of your girlfriends. Take your time, order whatever indulgent items you want, drink a mimosa, and enjoy yourself!
- Then when you come back you will be refreshed from sleeping in and your social cup will be full from getting to see friends.
Just Be MOM
I don’t know about you, but there are a lot of times where I feel like my brain has too many responsibilities, or if I’m home with the kids I feel like I also have to do this and that and the other thing.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a day to JUST be mom? Spend time with your kids. Play games. Snuggle and watch a movie. Do a craft. Read books. Play outside. All of this WITHOUT also keeping laundry going, or making lunches, or making dinner, or doing dishes, or anything else.
If that sounds amazing then make this your request! Tell your partner you JUST want to be mom for the day (or maybe you take a couple of hours to yourself and then get to be just mom for the rest of the evening).
You only want to spend time with your kids, and your spouse has to do any household chores that you would typically try to get done during the day, take care of the animals, make everybody’s lunch, do nap time, make everybody’s dinner, do bathtime, and do bedtime for everyone.
Whatever you get or do for Mother’s Day, I hope you end the day feeling loved, treasured, and valued.
